Oogy was originally a bait dog in a fighting ring. Oogy gradually ends up changing the lives of Larry, Jennifer (his wife), Noah and Dan (twin brothers adopted at three days old), and the people he meets. Oogy is affectionally so named by Larry Levine, the author, who explains that when he saw Oogy who was not Oogy at that time he thought “that is one ugly dog” and so decided to name him Oogy which is an affectionate name for “Ugly”. After asking his wife if they can take the dog in and her agreeing to try it they go back to the animal shelter and adopt him. The author goes on to mention that owning Dogos is illegal in the UK and he has only met less than half a dozen people who recognize the breed. At first everyone thinks he is a pitt bull but later on in the book they find out that he is a Dogo. Oogy has some pictures in the back of the book and each chapter has a picture preceeding it. The author and his twin sons, who were adopted at three days old, meet Oogy when their cat Buzzy has to be put to sleep. My mother bought this for me and a copy for my sister, Alexus, for Christmas last year. This book was my first time hearing about this type of breed. Oogy is a bully breed known as a Argentine Dogo or just Dogo. Title: Oogy The dog only a family could love
